With seasonal allergies and sinus infections on the rise—and with finals fast approaching— students need to know they have access to medical care and mental health services on campus. Mizzou provides a variety of resources to help students seek treatment, manage symptoms and navigate academic stress.
Mizzou is committed to student health and well-being through a collaborative approach to care. One of the best resources for students feeling under the weather is the conveniently located Student Health Center.
Jamie Shutter, executive director of Student Health & Well-Being, wants students to know about the wide range of services available to them.
“The services provided at the Student Health Center are like what students would find at their provider back home,” Shutter said. “We offer primary care services, but also provide reproductive health, psychiatry, travel consultations, allergy shots, minor procedures, management of chronic conditions, and immunizations. Students can expect quality, accessible care, with most appointments available within 24-48 hours when calling ahead.”
Senior Leah Whitley, from St. Louis, Missouri, shared her experiences with the MU Student Health Center, emphasizing its efficiency and cleanliness.
“I have been to the Student Health Center several times and have been able to get prescriptions, including the flu shot,” Whitley said. “If I didn’t schedule an appointment, I usually only waited about an hour to be seen. They listened to my concerns and ran tests when needed. They also maintained a sterile, clean environment, changing gloves and needles in front of me.”
The Student Health Center is also a resource for students planning to study abroad. They can provide health records, immunizations, and necessary paperwork. Be sure to check your myStudyAbroad portal for specific requirements.
