ForagerOne Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What other institutions use ForagerOne?

A: Kentucky, Maryland, Cornell, Brandeis, Johns Hopkins University, and many more.

How do I correct my profile if the information isn’t up to date?

A: Log in using your Mizzou Single Sign-On and click on “My Profile” to edit your profile information or change your picture. You can also add research keywords, a research description, your personal website, and supplemental documents.

Q: What if I want to opt out of ForagerOne?

A: When editing your profile, toggle “Accepting Students?” to “No”, and a notification that you are “Not Accepting Students” will appear in red on your public profile. When you are ready to talk with students about your research and creative scholarship, simply return to your profile and toggle to “Yes”.

Q: Will we have to monitor the platform directly to see if messages from students are coming in?

A: No, the messages from students will come directly to your University of Missouri email.

Q. What about new faculty?

A: Since they do not yet have an MU web page, they will not have an auto created file. However, during the summer and during new faculty orientation, they will be given instructions and support to create a ForagerOne profile. The Office of Undergraduate Research already participates in New Faculty Orientation, and this will be a priority message to new faculty.

Q. What about retiring faculty?

A: The Office of Undergraduate Research will be able to delete faculty profiles upon request.

Q. If a faculty member “toggles on” the button to accept students, are they required to take a student?

A: No. ForagerOne does not automatically place students with faculty. It is a tool to help students and faculty find each other for initial conversations and interviews. ForagerOne simply makes the process more transparent and structured for both faculty and students.

Q. Do positions posted on ForagerOne need to be paid positions?

A: No. Undergraduate Research can be done as volunteer, paid hourly, through a program, and/or for credit. Unpaid opportunities can be posted on ForagerOne.

Q. Can faculty members search for students?

A: Yes!

Q. When will students create profiles? How will they be informed about ForagerOne?

A: Onboarding undergraduate students will hear about ForagerOne during their Summer Welcome orientation sessions and will be invited to create their profiles as early as Welcome Week, just before the start of fall classes. In Fall 2025, all undergraduate students will receive information and instructions on how and why to use ForagerOne to get started with research at Mizzou.

Q. Who else will be informed about ForagerOne?

A: Academic advisors, Career Center and career services staff, other student support staff, etc.

Q. Who else can use ForagerOne? Grad students? PostDocs? Medical/Vet Students? Research Staff?

A: Yes. Anyone with MU credentials will be able to use ForagerOne. However, our priority for Fall 2025 is faculty and undergraduate students.
